Maestro's video player supports casting to external devices so you can enjoy live streams, on-demand videos, and uploaded content on your TV. Casting is available through Amazon FireTV *, Google Chromecast and Apple AirPlay, depending on your device.
* Amazon FireTV Users - Please note, casting to FireTV will require use of a third party app available on the FireTV App Marketplace called AirStream.
How to Start Casting
- Make sure your casting device is on the same Wi-Fi network as the phone, tablet, or computer you're watching on. Your Chromecast or AirPlay-compatible TV needs to be powered on and connected.
- Open the video you want to watch on Maestro and tap or hover over the player to reveal the video controls.
- Tap the casting icon in the top-right corner of the video player. On iOS you'll see the AirPlay icon; on Android, the Chromecast icon. On desktop web, both icons are available.
- Select your device from the list that appears. The video will begin playing on your TV once the connection is established.
When you're connected, the cast icon will appear highlighted to confirm the active session. On desktop, the video player will display a "Casting to [device name]" message in place of the video.
How to Stop Casting
To disconnect, tap or hover over the video player to show the controls again, then tap the cast icon (it will have a line through it while connected). This ends the casting session and returns playback to your current device.
Frequently Asked Questions
I don't see a casting icon in the player.
The cast icon only appears when a compatible device is detected on your network. Make sure your Chromecast or AirPlay-enabled TV is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the device you're watching on. On mobile, remember that AirPlay appears only on iOS, while Chromecast appears only on Android.
Do interactive overlays (polls, chat, etc.) appear on my TV?
Interactive overlays and on-screen elements are part of the Maestro web experience and typically won't appear on the TV when casting. You can still interact with them on your phone, tablet, or computer while the video plays on the big screen.
